Generation Mechanism of Diesel Generator Set Pollutants

Aug. 01, 2023

Everyone knows that the pollution of diesel generator sets is very harmful, so how can we solve these pollution problems? First of all, it is necessary to understand the generation mechanism of diesel generator set pollutants. Therefore, Dingbo Power Generation Equipment introduces the generation mechanism of unburned carbon and argon compounds in diesel generator set pollutants.

Unburned and partially burned hydrocarbons in diesel generator set emissions are collectively referred to as unburned hydrocarbons (unburned hydrocarbons). Because the working principle of diesel engine is fuel injection compression ignition, the time of fuel staying in the combustion chamber is much shorter than that of gasoline engine, so it is less affected by the cold shock effect of the wall, the gap effect and the adsorption effect. As a result, diesel engines emit much lower unburned hydrocarbons than gasoline engines.

The mixture of diesel and air injected by the injector in the combustion chamber of the diesel generator set may be too lean or too rich, so that the diesel cannot spontaneously ignite, or the flame cannot be transmitted. For example, in the ignition delay period at the initial stage of fuel injection, the mixture of diesel and air may be too lean due to the rapid mixing of oil and gas, resulting in unburned hydrocarbons. In the high-temperature gas atmosphere in the later stage of fuel injection, the mixture of diesel and air may be too rich due to insufficient oil and gas mixing, or incomplete combustion products are discharged with the exhaust due to combustion dissolution and quenching, but at this time, there are more heavier hydrocarbons. Adsorbed by soot particles, forming part of the constituent particles (PM).

Therefore, the emission of unburned hydrocarbons from diesel generator sets mainly comes from the area of lean mixture caused by excessive mixing of the outer edge of diesel injection. load condition.

Excessive volume of the pressure chamber behind the needle valve of the fuel injector is an important reason for the emission of unburned hydrocarbons from the diesel engine, because the remaining fuel remaining in the pressure chamber volume after the needle valve is closed will leak out through the nozzle hole during the expansion stroke. In addition, misfire at startup, engine oil blow-by and abnormal injection are also the reasons why diesel generator sets produce unburned hydrocarbons.
