Working Principle of Cummins Generator PTG Bipolar Governor

If, for some reason, the rotating speed of Cummins generator decreases and the centrifugal force of the flyer decreases, the idle spring of Cummins generator drives the governor plunger to the left, thus increasing the cross section of the orifice leading to the idle oil passage of Cummins generator and increasing the fuel supply. When the rotating speed of Cummins generator increases, the PTG regulator plunger moves to the right, the flow section decreases, and the fuel supply decreases to keep the idle speed of Cummins generator stable. The idle speed adjustment of Cummins generator screws is used to change the stable idle speed.

When the speed of Cummins generator diesel engine increases, the plunger nd idle spring of PTG regulator A is compressed, mainly from the high-speed spring. As a result, the left notch of the piston groove of PTG governor gradually moves to the middle of the throttle hole of the throttle valve. When the speed of Cummins generator is at the rated speed, the notch is located on the left side of the orifice. If the speed of Cummins generator increases, the plunger moves to the right, the flow section of the orifice decreases, and the fuel flow to the Cummins generator injector decreases.


When all Cummins generators are unloaded, the section of the orifice is very small, and the cross shaped radial hole at the right end of the plunger has been removed from the governor sleeve and connected to the adjacent oil passage. Cummins generator runs at the highest idle speed, which limits the increase of the speed of Cummins generator. When the Cummins generator operates at low speed, the spring at the right end of the high-speed torque correct transmission unit is in a free state. If the rotating speed of the Cummins generator increases, the centrifugal force of the flyer increases, so that the plunger of the Cummins generator regulator moves to the right.


When the speed of Cummins generator exceeds the maximum torque speed, the spring starts to compress, thus reducing the axial force of Cummins generator flyer on the governor plunger, thus reducing the fuel pressure and torque of Cummins generator. The higher the speed, the greater the torque drop, which improves the torque adaptability of Cummins generator at high speed. When the speed of Cummins generator is low, the low speed torque is compressed to exceed the maximum torque point speed, and the right thrust is increased by modifying the Cummins generator spring and governor plunger, which increases the fuel pressure, oil supply and Cummins generator torque, thus slowing down the trend of torque reduction at low speed of Cummins generator, and improving the adaptability of torque at low speed of Cummins generator.
