When to Use the Emergency Stop Button for Diesel Generators

As the name suggests, it is used to trigger protective measures by pressing it quickly in case of emergencies. It should only be pressed when the unit suddenly malfunctions or the electrical load encounters an unexpected situation that prevents normal shutdown procedures.

In the event of a sudden failure of the generator set or other emergencies, the emergency stop button must be pressed. Notably, after the machine shuts down, the emergency stop button should be reset. Pressing the button directly downward immediately halts the entire equipment. To restart, the button must be released: rotate it clockwise by approximately 45°, then release, and the pressed part will pop up, indicating "release". Failure to reset the button will prevent the diesel generator set from restarting.

Dingbo Power reminds users: If operators detect severe unit failures or power distribution faults, they may press the emergency stop button on the control panel to shut down the unit immediately. Under normal circumstances, users are not advised to shut down the unit using the emergency stop button arbitrarily.

Normal Shutdown Procedure for Diesel Generators: Before normal shutdown, first disconnect the load, then let the unit run at no load for a certain period to allow sufficient cooling. For units equipped with a shutdown valve, turning off the control panel key switch to stop the unit is ineffective. The correct shutdown operation requires pressing the stop button on the control panel while it is powered on.
