Troubleshooting Diesel Generator Circuit Breaker Failure

The diesel generator set circuit breaker is a switching device that can close, carry, and break current under normal circuit conditions, close the circuit breaker within a specified time, and conduct and break current under abnormal circuit conditions. Circuit breakers can be used for power distribution, infrequently started diesel motors, and protection of power lines and motors. When serious overload, short circuit, undervoltage and other faults occur, it can automatically cut off the circuit. Its function is equivalent to the combination of a fuse switch and an over/under heat relay. And usually, there is no need to change components after breaking the fault current. In addition, the circuit breaker of the diesel generator set also needs to have the following functions:

1.The circuit breaker should be able to work reliably for a long time under rated conditions.

2.It should have sufficient short-circuit capacity. Due to the reliable grid voltage and large current, when the circuit breaker breaks the circuit, a strong arc is generated between the contacts, and the circuit can only be broken when the arc is completely extinguished. Therefore, the circuit breaker is required to have sufficient short-circuit capacity, especially in the case of a short-circuit fault, it should be able to reliably cut off the short-circuit current and ensure sufficient thermal stability and dynamic stability.

3.It has the shortest possible opening time. When a short-circuit fault occurs in the power grid, the circuit breaker is required to quickly cut off the faulty circuit, which can shorten the fault time of the power grid and reduce the harm of short-circuit current to short-term equipment.

When we use a diesel generator, there may be a fault that the circuit breaker cannot be closed. How should we solve this problem?

First, you can use a Phillips screwdriver to unscrew the two screws that fix the circuit breaker. Then take off the red wire connected to the back of the circuit breaker with a Phillips screwdriver, take out the circuit breaker, and tap it gently on the table to ensure it is not damaged, then try to close the circuit breaker! If it can be closed, that's fine; if not, keep tapping! After the circuit breaker is restored to normal by tapping, install it correctly to ensure stable installation. Then fasten the generator line protection panel and screw on all the screws of the front panel.
