Filing is one of the many tools required when maintaining diesel generator sets. So how should we use filing correctly? What should we pay attention to? Dingbo Power Generator Manufacturer will explain for you. Filing has a wide range of applications, including filing the inner and outer surfaces of workpieces, and renovation individual parts during assembly, etc.
When using, the following points should be noted:
First, choose the appropriate file. The selection of file thickness depends on the size of the machining allowance, machining accuracy, the thickness of surface roughness and material properties. Files are suitable for filing workpieces with large tolerances and rough surfaces, while fine files are the opposite. The selection of file shape depends on the shape of the workpiece's machining surface.
In addition, you should also learn to use filing correctly. The methods are as follows:
(1) Filing Methods for Flat Surfaces
1. Forward filing: It is a method of filing along the same direction of the workpiece. After filing, straight file marks can be obtained, which are neater and more beautiful. It is suitable for final filing and filing small planes.
2. Cross filing: It is filing the workpiece from two cross directions. When submitting, the contact surface with the workpiece increases, the file is smooth and easy to grasp, and the height of the filing surface can be judged from the file marks, making it easy to file the plane flat. However, before the plane is about to be filed, it is necessary to switch to forward filing to make the file marks straight.
3. Push filing: Use both hands to hold the file symmetrically and transversely, and push the length of the workpiece under the thumb of the file. This method is only suitable for filing narrow and long planes and correcting dimensions.
When filing flat surfaces, it is often necessary to check the flatness. A steel ruler or a knife-edge ruler can be used to check by the light transmission method, and the unevenness can be judged from the light transmission's brightness and intensity at the gaps in the longitudinal, transverse, and diagonal directions.
(2) Filing Methods for Curved Surfaces
1. Filing method for outer arc surfaces: When the allowance is small, generally use the method of filing along the arc with the file. While the file is moving forward, it should also swing around the center of the workpiece's arc. This method is suitable for the rough processing of arc surfaces. However, when the machining allowance is large, the method of filing across the arc can be used. First, file into a polygonal shape according to the arc requirements, and then finely file into an arc by following the arc method.
2. Filing method for inner arcs: When filing, the file must complete three movements at the same time: forward movement; left and right movement, with a movement amount of about half to one file diameter; rotation around the file's center line. Only when these three movements are carried out simultaneously can the inner arc surface be filed well.
