Last week, we shared with you the basic working principles of the fuel system, including the fuel injection system, low-pressure pipelines, injectors, exhaust of the fuel supply system, high-pressure fuel pipes, fuel filters, and other knowledge related to electric motors. Today, Dingbo Power's diesel generator set knowledge mini-lecture continues to explain the sensors, controllers, control wiring harnesses, and troubleshooting of electronic control components in the fuel supply system. We hope this will help you master more professional knowledge about diesel generator sets.
1. Sensors
The sensors used in the electromechanical system of the electronically controlled unit pump engine mainly include the crankshaft sensor, camshaft sensor, boost pressure and temperature sensor, coolant temperature sensor, fuel temperature sensor, and oil pressure and temperature sensor.
(1) Crankshaft sensor and camshaft sensor
The air gap between the crankshaft sensor and the signal gear is 3.0 - 3.5 mm. The camshaft sensor is installed on the fuel injection system body, and the gap of the camshaft sensor is 1.4 ± 0.2 mm. A feeler gauge must be used to measure the gap during installation. The crankshaft sensor accurately calculates the crankshaft position for fuel injection timing and speed calculation. When the camshaft sensor or the crankshaft sensor fails, it can automatically switch to the single - sensor mode for normal power output operation.
The crankshaft sensor and the camshaft sensor must meet a specific phase relationship to ensure the good operation of the engine. If one of the sensors fails, the fault light will come on, and the engine will automatically enter the single - speed sensor signal mode to ensure that the ship can reach the service area for repair.
(2) Boost pressure and temperature sensor
The boost pressure and temperature sensor is used to measure the intake pressure of the engine, for over - heat protection, and to calculate the intake air volume together with the intake temperature. It is integrated with the intake temperature sensor. When installing and removing the boost pressure and temperature sensor, be careful not to break the pressure conduit of the sensor. Make sure to install the sealing ring in place during installation to ensure airtightness.
(3) Coolant temperature sensor
The coolant temperature sensor is used to monitor the coolant temperature of the engine, which is used for cold starting, target idle speed calculation, etc., and also for fuel injection advance angle adjustment and over - heat protection. If the coolant temperature exceeds 98 °C, the controller will control the engine to reduce power and enter the heat - protection state to ensure the safe operation of the engine. Pay attention to sealing and torque during installation and removal to prevent coolant leakage.
(4) Fuel temperature sensor
The fuel temperature sensor is used to transmit signals to the ECU for calculating and controlling the fuel injection quantity.
(5) Oil pressure and temperature sensor
The oil pressure and temperature sensor is installed on the main oil passage of the cylinder block. When the oil pressure or temperature is too low or too high, the instrument will give an alarm signal.
