Judgment Method For Water Ingress Fault Of Oil Casing Of Diesel Generator

Apr. 28, 2023

Yuchai diesel generator set has been widely used in the market for its stable performance and ultra-low failure rate, but low failure rate does not mean that there will never be any failure. For example, in normal operation, water ingress in the oil shell is one of the common failures. Generally speaking, there are many types of fault areas or parts that can cause water to enter the oil pan. When a fault occurs, users should be able to quickly identify the fault area. Below, Jiangsu Starlight Electricity Equipments Co.,Ltd. will introduce several quick methods for determining water ingress into the Yuchai engine oil housing:

1. Remove the body side cover plate of Yuchai diesel generator set, and observe the water leakage around each cylinder liner. If water drips downward on the inner wall of the cylinder liner, it may be that there are sand holes in the cylinder liner, cracks in the cylinder head, or the cylinder gasket is damaged. If there are sand holes in the cylinder liner or cracks in the cylinder head, which lead to water leakage, another phenomenon will generally occur, that is, when the cooling water radiator starts the diesel engine, There is water or bubbles coming out of the water tank filler, and the cylinder gasket is damaged. When starting the diesel generator set, there will be a sound of air leakage. If the cooling water radiator has bubbles or water overflows, and when starting the diesel generator set, there will be no sound of air leakage at the cylinder gasket, it can generally be determined that there is a crack in the cylinder head or sand holes in the cylinder sleeve.

2. If there is water dripping on the outer wall of the unit cylinder liner, it can be considered that the sealing ring of the cylinder liner or the copper gasket under the cylinder liner is unevenly placed or damaged.

3. If there is oil appearing at the water inlet of the cooling water radiator and water entering the oil pan, it can generally be concluded that the oil radiator is damaged. If the oil cooling method of the diesel engine is air-cooled, it can be determined that there is a crack in the cylinder head, causing the water channel in the cylinder head to meet the oil channel, causing water to enter the oil pan and the cooling water radiator to enter the oil.

The above is the quick judgment method introduced by Jiangsu Starlight Electricity Equipments Co.,Ltd. for the water ingress in the oil casing of Yuchai diesel generator set. If the water ingress in the oil casing of the diesel generator set happens suddenly every time during the normal operation of the unit, then the operator or maintenance personnel of the unit should be able to quickly and accurately find the damaged parts or parts. Jiangsu Starlight Electricity Equipments Co.,Ltd. suggests that you can follow the above method for troubleshooting. If the above conditions are not met, it can be concluded that there are cracks in the body of the Yuchai diesel generator set.
