Installation Requirements and Quality Considerations of Diesel Generators

There is a wide variety of fasteners used in diesel generators. Although some are special-purpose fasteners, most are standard fasteners. Diesel generator sets have high requirements for quality and reliability. Currently, the special fasteners in diesel generator fasteners include connecting rod bolts, cylinder head bolts, flywheel bolts, cylinder head nuts, balance weight bolts, main bearing bolts, etc. in the engine.

1. Connecting Rod Bolts

If the tightening torque of the connecting rod bolts is too large, it will cause the bolts to stretch, deform or even break, leading to cylinder collision accidents. If the tightening torque of the connecting rod bolts is too small, the bearing clearance will increase, resulting in knocking noise and impact load during operation, and even bearing burning, shaft seizure and connecting rod bolt breakage accidents.

2. Cylinder Head Nuts

When tightening the cylinder head nuts, they should be gradually tightened to the specified torque in several steps, following the principle of starting from the middle, then moving to both sides, and crossing diagonally. When disassembling the cylinder, they should also be gradually loosened in the specified order. If the cylinder head nuts are tightened unevenly or unbalanced, it will cause warping deformation of the cylinder head surface.

3. Balance Weight Bolts

Balance weight bolts should be installed in sequence and gradually tightened to the specified torque in several steps. The balance weights should be reinstalled in their original positions; otherwise, the balancing effect will be lost.

4. Flywheel Nuts

If the flywheel nut is not tightened sufficiently, the diesel engine will produce knocking noise during operation. In severe cases, it can damage the crankshaft cone surface, shear the keyway, and break the crankshaft, causing serious accidents. In addition, it should be noted that the tabs of the thrust washer can only be bent once.

5. Main Bearing Bolts

The hazards caused by excessive or insufficient tightening torque of the main bearing bolts are basically the same as those caused by excessive or insufficient tightening torque of the connecting rod bolts.

6. Rocker Arm Seat Nuts

Loose rocker arm seat nuts will increase the valve clearance, cause the valve to open later, close earlier, and shorten the valve opening duration, leading to insufficient air supply, incomplete exhaust, reduced power, and increased fuel consumption of the diesel engine.

7. Injector Lock Nuts

If the injector lock nut is tightened too much, it will cause deformation of the lock nut and easily cause the needle valve to seize. If it is tightened too loosely, it will cause fuel injector leakage, insufficient injection pressure, poor atomization, and increased fuel consumption.

8. Injector Pressure Plate Nuts

If the tightening torque of the pressure plate nut is too large, it will cause deformation of the injector valve body, leading to seizure of the injector nozzle and failure of the diesel generator to work. If the tightening torque is too small, the injector will leak, resulting in insufficient cylinder pressure, difficulty in starting, and the high temperature will cause the injector nozzle to burn out.

9. Delivery Valve Holder

If the delivery valve holder is tightened too much, the plunger sleeve will deform, causing the plunger to jam in the sleeve, leading to early wear of the plunger pair, decreased sealing performance, and reduced power. If the delivery valve holder is too loose, it will cause oil leakage from the fuel injection pump, failure to build up oil pressure, delayed fuel supply time, reduced fuel supply, and seriously affect the working performance of the generator.
