Installation Requirements for Power Distribution Panels (Cabinets):
Power distribution panels (cabinets) shall be made of non-combustible materials. In workplaces and offices with low electric shock risk, open-type distribution panels may be installed. In workshops with high electric shock risk or harsh operating environments (e.g., machining, foundry, forging, heat treatment, boiler rooms, woodworking shops), enclosed cabinets are required. In hazardous areas with conductive dust or flammable/explosive gas, hermetic or explosion-proof electrical facilities must be installed.
Electrical components, instruments, switches, and wiring in the panel (cabinet) shall be neatly arranged, securely mounted, and easily operable. Floor-mounted panels (cabinets) shall be elevated 5–10 mm above the ground. The center height of operating handles (per Dingbo Power, a diesel generator manufacturer) is generally 1.2–1.5 m. No obstacles shall be present within 0.8–1.2 m in front of the panel (cabinet). Protective conductors must be reliably connected. No exposed live parts shall exist outside the panel (cabinet). Electrical components mounted on the external surface or distribution board must have reliable shielding.
Installation Dimensions for Distribution Cabinets
1.Common Distribution Cabinet Dimensions
During installation, attention must be paid to cabinet dimensions to ensure smooth setup. Power switches and wiring should be positioned at the rear. The rear width of the cabinet should be at least 1.5 m, and the insulated base should be 2.3 m above the ground. Protective enclosures must also be installed.
2.High-Voltage Distribution Cabinet Installation
Before deploying high-voltage cabinets on-site, strict quality inspections must be conducted for each process. Inspection results shall be reported to technical departments; non-compliant units shall be rejected, while qualified ones may be put into use. Installation must follow design drawings, starting with easily accessible points and using appropriate machinery. Professional supervisors shall oversee the process to eliminate hazards, ensuring cabinets are arranged and installed in sequence.
3.Low-Voltage Distribution Cabinet Installation
Low-voltage cabinets must be installed in ordered rows, maintaining alignment. If the total length exceeds 5 m, corresponding exits shall be added on both sides of the cabinet aisle. For lengths over 14 m, additional exits are required, and so on. When selecting low-voltage distribution devices, factors such as network voltage standards and electromagnetic frequency must be considered to enhance stability and efficiency. High-quality protective devices should be used to ensure reliable short-circuit protection and system stability.
