The stability of current during the use of diesel generator sets is crucial for the normal operation of the unit. If the current is too small or too large, it will have different degrees of impact on the unit. Therefore, we need to correctly understand the knowledge related to the current of diesel generator sets to ensure the smooth progress of our later work. So what are the reasons that affect the size of the unit's current? The following points are the main causes:
1.The magnitude of the induced current generated by the motor is related to the coil speed and the coil rotation.
2.Under the condition that the coil speed and rotation are the same, replacing the magnet with different magnetic strengths to make the coil move in the magnetic field to cut the magnetic induction line, then the magnitude of the induced current is related to the strength of the magnet; otherwise, it is irrelevant.
3.The magnitude of the induced current generated by the generator is related to the excitation coil. The level of the output voltage of the excitation coil is proportional to the level of the output voltage of the generator.
4.The magnitude of the induced current generated by the motor is related to the coil speed, coil size, number of coil turns, magnetic field strength, and load size. Simply put, the magnitude of the induced current generated by the motor is related to the rate of change of the coil flux and the load determines the current size.
These above are the reasons that affect the size of the current of the diesel generator set. Many customers also consult about how to calculate the current of the diesel generator. Nanning Generator Manufacturer Dingbo Power gives you an example to answer.
First, we need to determine the working voltage level of the generator. Taking the commonly used motors of 2 - phase 220VAC and 3 - phase 4 - wire 380VAC as examples, the power factor φ is on the motor nameplate, generally around 0.8 - 0.9. Assuming φ is 0.8, and the motor power is set as P, taking the power P as 15KW as an example.
When it is a 220VAC motor: P = UIφ, so I = 15000 / (220X0.8) = 85.23A
When it is 380VAC power supply: P = √3UIφ, so I = 15000 / (380x1.732x0.8) = 28.41A
The above calculation method is more troublesome. There is also a simple method to calculate the generator current. The premise is that the rated voltage of the engine is 400V, and the power factor is 0.8. Taking a 200kw generator as an example:
Simple formula 200X1.8 = 360A
For the approximate calculation of the rated current of a three - phase 380V motor, multiply the capacity by 2.
In the process of using diesel generator sets, many users may encounter problems such as small current. We also need to take corresponding measures. When we encounter the problem of small current, we can check the contact between the generator brush and the slip ring. Then use the DC voltage range of the multimeter to measure the output voltage of the regulator. If the voltage is 5V, it indicates that the fault occurs in the charging generator. When measuring the diode, if it is found to be burnt out, the diode needs to be replaced immediately, and the diesel generator should be reassembled until the test results are normal.
