Emergency Shutdown of Diesel Generator Sets

When a generator set encounters any of the following situations, an emergency shutdown is mandatory. In such cases, first disconnect the load, then immediately turn the fuel injection pump switch handle to the position that cuts off the oil supply to stop the diesel engine immediately:

1.After running for a period or shortly after starting, the temperature rises rapidly (mainly due to poor cooling, starting from the water tank), with cooling water temperature exceeding 99°C.

2.During operation, the diesel engine suddenly changes sound, oil pressure drops, or there is no oil pressure at all (possibly due to damage to the high-pressure oil pump). Normal diesel generator sets have a clear sound; if there is abnormal noise or knocking on the cylinder block, stop immediately for inspection.

3.Seizure of moving parts such as cylinders, pistons, or governors.

4.Generator voltage exceeds the maximum reading on the meter.

5.Occurrence of fire, electric leakage, or other natural hazards.

The generator set is equipped with an emergency stop button. Pressing this button will shut down the diesel generator set directly. In case of severe faults or power distribution failures, the emergency stop button on the control panel can be pressed to stop the unit immediately. Do not use the emergency stop button to shut down the machine under normal circumstances, as this may damage the equipment.

Normal Shutdown Operation of Diesel Generator Sets

Before normal shutdown, first disconnect the load, then let the unit run at no load for a certain period to allow it to cool down sufficiently before shutting down.
