Its cylinder block and crankshaft have a simple structure, and a single cylinder head is used, resulting in low manufacturing cost, high stability, good low-speed torque characteristics, low fuel consumption, and compact size, so it is widely used. Its disadvantage is relatively low power. When the displacement and the number of cylinders increase, the length of the engine will increase significantly. At present, the number of cylinders of mainstream in-line engines ranges from single-cylinder to 6-cylinder.
