Diesel generator sets are widely used in mines, railways, field construction sites, road traffic maintenance, as well as factories, enterprises, hospitals and other departments as backup power or temporary power sources due to their large power, stable performance, complete supporting facilities, and ease of operation and maintenance.
Diesel Generator Room Design Principles
The layout of equipment in the engine room should be determined according to the capacity and number of units, and should strive to be compact, economical and reasonable, ensuring safety and facilitating maintenance. When only one unit is installed in the diesel generator room, if the unit capacity is 500kW or less, a control room is generally not required. In this case, the distribution panel and control panel should be arranged at or on the side of the generator. The requirements for the operation and maintenance entrance are that the distance from the front of the panel to the generator end should not be less than 2m, and the distance from the front of the panel to the generator side should not be less than 1.5m.
For multiple units with a single unit capacity of 500kW and above, a control room should be set up considering the convenience of operation, maintenance, management and centralized control. Generally, the generator control panel, unit operation desk, power control (panel) desk and lighting distribution box are placed in the control room. The layout of the control room is the same as the technical requirements for the layout of the low-voltage distribution room.
In the engine room, the units should be arranged horizontally (vertically), so that the center line of the unit is perpendicular to the central axis of the engine room, which is convenient for operation and management, with short pipelines and compact layout. When the engine room is adjacent to the control and distribution room, the outlet end of the generator should be arranged close to the control and distribution room.
Selection and Laying of Distribution Conductors in Generator Room:Power cables or insulated wires for diesel generator rooms should be selected according to humid environments; the leads from the generator to the distribution panel should be copper core cables or enclosed busbars; high-voltage control and measurement lines and excitation lines should be copper core control cables or copper core wires; control lines, excitation lines and power distribution lines should be laid through steel pipes buried underground or along cable trenches. When steel pipes are used for excitation lines and main lines, they can be installed in the same pipe. The fixed lighting of the diesel generator room must be connected to the emergency power supply.
Determine a reasonable installation location according to actual on-site needs, ensure that wire connections are tight and firm, select wire colors in accordance with specifications, keep the inside and outside of the box clean, and clearly mark the distribution cabinet number.
