The following instructions will explain the functions of the control panel components of the 350kW Cummins generator (different models may only have some of the components)

1. AC Voltmeter - The voltmeter displays the output AC voltage of the alternator.

2. AC Voltmeter Selector Switch provides the operator with the option to select the voltage between phases or between one phase and neutral, while the OFF position is for the operator to zero when the machine is running.

3. AC Ammeter - The ammeter shows the AC current being delivered, and the magnitude of this current depends on the load. To measure the current of each phase, the ammeter selector switch can be used. If the ammeter has no reading when the generator is running, the ammeter selector switch may be in the OFF position.

4. AC Ammeter Selector Switch - This switch can select to measure the current of each phase, and the OFF position can adjust the zero position when starting.

5. Frequency Meter - The frequency meter is used to display the output frequency of the generator. When the diesel engine maintains a relatively stable speed under the control of the governor, the normal output frequency should be 50Hz or 60Hz (generator full load). If there is only partial load, the frequency may be slightly higher than normal, which is determined by the degree of governor droop. In fact, the frequency should be 52Hz or 62Hz when there is no load, and when the load is connected, the frequency drops to 50Hz and 60Hz at full load.

6. Running Time Meter: A meter indicating the total number of running hours the generator has been turned on.

7. Diesel Engine Water Temperature Gauge: A thermometer connected to a sensor of the engine to monitor the temperature of the engine coolant. The normal operating temperature should be 85 degrees Celsius (185F), and the operating water temperature of diesel engines of different models may vary.

8. Diesel Engine Oil Pressure Gauge: An instrument used to monitor the oil pressure of the generator, which starts working from the moment the diesel engine starts. The normal oil pressure is 35-60 P.S.I/60Hz.

9. Indicator Lights - When the indicator light is on, it indicates that the protection circuit has sensed the condition to be indicated. The red light indicates that the system will stop, and the green light indicates power output.

10. Control Switches include an emergency stop switch and a power switch.
