The Spraying Process of Diesel Generator Sets

As we all know, the surface paint of diesel generator sets is sprayed by workers from diesel generator manufacturers, and some customers may specify the desired color. So, what is the spraying process like? Below, Dingbo Power Generator Manufacturer will talk about the painting process.

1.Inspection: Check whether the tested motor has misassembly or missing parts.

2.Surface Treatment: Remove burrs, rust spots, oil stains, welding slag and oxide scale from the painted surface of the motor.

3.Protection Before Sanding: Apply butter oil seal to some mating surfaces of the motor, and protect the non-painted parts that need to be shielded.

4.Applying Putty: Check if there are pits and protrusions on the motor surface. If there are, apply putty evenly on them, and ensure there are no cracks or bubbles. After the putty is fully dried, use a hand-held pneumatic sander to smooth the putty. Blow off the dust and foreign matter after sanding with an air compressor, and ensure the smooth transition of the polishing transition layer. If necessary, make sure there is no dust or foreign matter on the workpiece surface.

5.Protection Before Painting: Protect some parts that cannot be sprayed.

6.Spray gun adjustment: adjust the pressure gauge of the air compressor to 0.25-0.4MPa, turn the spray knob of the spray gun to the maximum value, tighten the spray paint flow adjustment knob, turn 2.5 turns, maximize the compressed air adjustment knob at the gun tail, and achieve better spraying effect.

7.Pre-coating: Pre-coating is an important part of good spraying work and should be carried out before each layer of spraying. Pre-coating is generally used for parts that are difficult to spray in place, mainly including free edges, welds, air holes, pipes and other hard-to-reach parts.

8.Spraying Topcoat Twice: During the spraying process, try to keep the spray gun perpendicular to the spraying surface, and spray it on the surface according to the 50% overlap requirement to obtain a uniform wet film; when spraying fillet welds, it is not advisable to spray the straight bevel part of the spray gun, the edge of the fan-shaped spray should sweep across the corner, and the distance between the spray gun nozzle and the coating surface should be kept between 20-30 cm to avoid dry spray. The painting sequence should be from bottom to top, from local to overall.

9.Air Drying: After spraying, place it in the drying area.

10.Paint Film Thickness Requirements: The thickness of the original primer castings shall be ≥80μm, the thickness of the primer sheet metal parts or machined surfaces shall be ≥60μm, and the thickness of the original exposed parts shall be ≥30μm.
