Perhaps many users are unclear about how to efficiently and quickly seek help when there are later - stage malfunctions after purchasing generators or engine equipment. Today, the editor of Dingbo Power shares with you the overseas service guide for Chongqing Cummins engine products in China, helping everyone use Cummins engines and generator products with ease.
1.Global Warranty Policy for Cummins Engine Products
Cummins products enjoy the services of the unified Cummins global service system. Services are provided according to the principle of territoriality, that is, the Cummins service station in the location of the engine is responsible for the warranty and services of that engine.
For exported products, the scope of warranty, determination of the warranty period, and standards for warranty costs will be implemented by the local Cummins service agency in accordance with the Cummins company's warranty regulations and warranty work manuals applicable to the local area where the product is used. It may not be completely consistent with the Cummins product warranty regulations currently implemented by Chongqing Cummins and Cummins (China) Investment Co., Ltd. in the East Asian region.
2.How to Obtain Services When a Cummins Engine Malfunctions Overseas
Engine Registration: Chinese original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) provide engine export information to the Cummins overseas service support team on a monthly basis. Alternatively, customers can directly register on the Cummins product registration website, or notify the local Cummins engine sales information.
Requesting Services: Customers can directly contact the nearest Cummins service station. At the same time, please provide the following information:
Engine serial number, equipment purchase date, and working hours;
Equipment manufacturer, equipment name, and model;
Description of the malfunction site and the work already done on - site;
Provide photos of the malfunction site if available.
Providing Services: The local Cummins service station inspects the engine malfunction and provides a malfunction inspection report. The relevant costs for malfunctions covered by the warranty will be paid by the Cummins system, while customers need to pay for services for non - covered malfunctions.
3.Warranty Claim Policy for Cummins Generators
Most products sold by Cummins come with a warranty (i.e., an attached warranty). The warranty defines the respective responsibilities of Cummins and the customer when a malfunction (warranty malfunction) occurs due to defects in Cummins materials or factory workmanship.
If the product is not maintained in accordance with the regulations in the Cummins operation and maintenance manual, malfunctions caused by improper maintenance, or malfunctions caused by product violations or negligence as specified in the warranty certificate's restrictions are not covered by the Cummins warranty.
【Reminder】Cummins assumes no responsibility for the following situations:
Damages occurring after the engine should have been shut down;
Malfunctions or damages determined by Cummins to be caused by violations or negligence;
Wear or tear of warranty parts;
Incidental or indirect damages.
a. Engine Warranty Start Date
The service station must determine the warranty start date. The customer is responsible for providing proof of the relevant date (if required). If the warranty start date is not recorded in the documents and the user has made every effort but still fails to provide evidence of the date, the service station should set the warranty start date as one month after the shipping date when making the first claim.
The steps for determining the warranty start date vary depending on the application type. For detailed information on determining the warranty start date, refer to the corresponding warranty instructions.
b. Customer Responsibilities
Use and maintain Cummins products as recommended in the Cummins operation and maintenance manual; maintain the odometer or hour meter for maintenance.
Notify the authorized Cummins service station of all malfunctions covered by the warranty before the expiration of the applicable warranty period and provide the necessary documents to verify the product protection start date; if necessary, transport the engine to the service station or keep the engine in a state awaiting maintenance within the valid warranty period.
Once a malfunction covered by the warranty occurs, the customer must contact the authorized Cummins service station for repairs. The malfunction date is the date when the repair order is issued. The engine must be in a state awaiting maintenance, and the repair order must be issued/established within the warranty period.
