The function of a diesel generator's oil pump is to deliver a certain amount of oil to the friction surfaces of the generator set's moving parts after generating a specific pressure. Therefore, it plays a crucial role in the normal operation of the generator set. When using it, it is necessary to carefully inspect whether the oil pump's performance indicators meet the requirements to avoid affecting the unit's normal power generation and causing unnecessary losses. Today, the editor will focus on introducing how to inspect whether the oil pump's performance indicators meet the requirements and the maintenance skills for later use.
First, check whether the size of the gear end face clearance, meshing clearance, and top clearance meets the technical requirements. During inspection, generally select three positions adjacent to 120°, measure them, and then calculate the average value from the three measurement data, which is the actual meshing clearance of the gears. If the gear meshing clearance is too large, generally reverse the gear for continued use or replace the gears in pairs with new ones.
Second, check whether the fit clearance between the driving shaft and the bushing meets the technical requirements. Use a vernier caliper to measure the diameter of the driving shaft and the inner hole of the bushing respectively; the difference between the two is the fit clearance between the driving shaft and the bushing. If the wear of the driving shaft and the bushing exceeds the limit value, the fit clearance can generally be restored by replacing the bushing.
Third, assembly and test of gear-type oil pumps. When assembling a gear-type oil pump, it should be assembled in the reverse order of disassembly. After assembly, place the oil pump in a square basin containing oil, block the oil pump's oil outlet with the thumb on one hand, and rotate the oil pump's driving shaft with the other hand. If during the rotation, the thumb feels pressure and oil overflows, it indicates that the oil pump's working performance is basically normal.
The specific technical requirements for diesel generator oil pumps are as follows:
(1) The clearance between the gear end face and the pump cover is generally in the range of 0.05 - 0.14mm, with a limit value of 0.15mm.
(2) The gear meshing clearance is generally in the range of 0.05 - 0.25mm, and the service limit is not allowed to exceed 0.28mm.
(3) The tooth top clearance is generally in the range of 0.05 - 0.15mm, with a limit clearance value of 0.45mm.
(4) After maintenance and assembly, the transmission part of the oil pump should rotate flexibly without jamming.
In addition to the diesel generator set requiring an oil pump that meets various performance requirements, whether the service life of the unit can be well extended is also closely related to how we maintain the diesel generator set. The editor from Dingbo Power has also briefly sorted out several maintenance tips for the oil pump. Simply mastering the following points can easily extend the unit's service life.
When using the oil pump, it is necessary to strictly control the use and filtration of diesel to ensure that the diesel entering the fuel injection pump is highly clean. Regularly check the oil quantity and quality in the fuel injection pump oil sump to see if they meet the requirements; also regularly check the camshaft clearance, adjust the fuel injection pump's fuel supply advance angle, the fuel supply interval angle of each cylinder, and the sealing condition of the outlet valve couple parts, etc. These related contents need to be paid attention to.
Dingbo Power was founded in 1974 and is one of the earliest manufacturers of generators and diesel generator sets in China. If you want get more information, please feel free to send email to [email protected] we will pay highly attention on your question.
