How to Adjust Fuel Supply of Diesel Generator Injection Pump

Insiders know that excessive or insufficient fuel supply from the diesel generator injection pump, although not causing the diesel generator set to stop running, will result in insufficient operating power of the diesel generator set, affecting power supply and, over time, the service life of the unit. Therefore, we need to correctly grasp the accuracy of the fuel supply from the injection pump. However, many users are also asking how to accurately grasp it.

Since the fuel supply uniformity of each cylinder of the injection pump is closely related to the working stability of the diesel engine, the fuel supply uniformity of each cylinder should be calculated in the injection pump test. The calculation formula is as follows:

Fuel supply unevenness of each cylinder = (Maximum fuel supply - Minimum fuel supply) / Average fuel supply × 100%

Average fuel supply = [(Maximum fuel supply + Minimum fuel supply) / 2] × 100%

The average fuel supply error of each cylinder should not exceed 5%. Before adjusting the fuel supply, the installation positions of the rack, gear ring and control sleeve must be adjusted to ensure their accuracy.

1.Adjustment of fuel supply at rated speed

① Increase the speed of the injection pump to the rated speed and keep the throttle control arm at the maximum fuel supply position.

② Preset the oil supply times of the tachometer to 200 times, and align the orifice of the measuring cylinder with the lower orifice of the oil collecting cup.

③ Press the counting button on the tachometer to start fuel supply and counting. After stopping fuel supply, read the fuel quantity of each measuring cylinder.

The fuel supply unevenness in each cylinder should be less than 3%, and adjustment should be made if it does not meet this requirement.

2.Adjustment of idle fuel supply

① After adjusting the fuel supply and fuel supply unevenness at rated speed, make the injection pump run at idle speed.

② Preset the oil supply times of the tachometer to 200 times, and align the orifice of the measuring cylinder with the lower orifice of the oil collecting cup.

③ Slowly pull the rotating arm in the fuel supply direction. When the injector starts to drip oil, fix the rotating arm, press the counting button, and start reading the fuel supply and counting. After stopping fuel supply, read the oil quantity in each measuring cylinder.

④ The unevenness of idle fuel supply of each cylinder generally does not exceed 20% ≤ 3%. If it does not meet the above requirements, it needs to be readjusted.

3.Adjustment of starting fuel supply

First, adjust the test bench speed to 180r/min. Second, place the longitudinal arm of the injection pump in the maximum fuel supply position. Finally, measure the fuel supply of each cylinder according to the above method.
