Valve leakage in diesel generators directly impacts engine performance and operational economy. If not promptly addressed by regrinding the valves to restore their sealing, valve leakage can rapidly progress to ablation of the valve seat, valve head cone surface, and valve stem root in a short period. This may lead to irreparable damage requiring component replacement, posing risks such as valve breakage and subsequent cylinder damage, as well as potential mechanical failures.

Valve leakage in diesel generators causes cylinder leakage, increased fuel consumption, incomplete fuel combustion within the cylinder, exhaust smoking, or air filter blow-by. In severe cases, it can result in engine starting difficulties, disrupt engine operational balance, and cause abnormal vibrations during operation. Therefore, when encountering valve leakage in rental diesel generator sets, it is crucial to attach great importance and promptly notify the diesel generator manufacturer for inspection, repair, and replacement to avoid losses.

Solutions for Valve Leakage in Rental Diesel Generator Sets:

1.If there is carbon buildup, burning, or spalling on the mating cone surface of the valve head and valve seat, minor cases can be addressed by manually lapping the valve and valve seat. If lapping fails to restore the valve's sealing performance, the valve seat can be reamed first, followed by lapping the valve and seat. In cases of severe damage, replacement is necessary.

2.If insufficient clearance is caused by loose adjusting screws, regular inspection and adjustment are required.

3.Excessive clearance between the valve stem and guide, a bent valve stem, or a deformed valve head all necessitate the replacement of new parts.

4.If the valve stem is stuck in the guide due to carbon buildup, the carbon can be removed, cleaned with gasoline, and then reinstalled. If the gap between the valve stem and guide becomes too large, it can be adjusted to the specified clearance value.

5.Pay attention to checking whether the decompression mechanism is functioning properly.

6.Avoid sudden acceleration and frequent speed changes during diesel generator set operation to extend the service life of the valve springs. Weak or broken springs must be replaced with new ones.
