Relevant Regulations for Diesel Generators: Conduct a manual start test weekly; perform a simulated mains power failure auto-start test after each major or minor repair. Each test requires 10 minutes of no-load operation. The 900kW diesel generator set is strictly prohibited from shutting down under load; after unloading, it must run at no-load for 3–5 minutes to cool down before stopping. As an emergency backup power source for the security section, the diesel generator operates in automatic input mode. If auto-start fails, operators must be familiar with manual start procedures.
Pre-Start Checks
1.For generator sets with "auto-start" function, set the start switch to "Manual" or "Stop" before inspection for safety; ensure it is restored to "Auto" afterward.
2.Check if engine oil level is within the scale; add the same type of oil to the scale if insufficient. Verify adequate fuel supply.
3.Ensure coolant level is approximately 8cm below the radiator cap; add soft water to this level if low.
4.Check electrolyte level is about 15mm above the electrode plates; add distilled water if insufficient.
5.Clear the generator set area and ensure cooling ventilation ducts are unobstructed.
6.Confirm the main circuit breaker of the diesel generator set is in the "OFF" position and verify disconnection from the mains power supply.
Manual Start Procedure
1.Confirm voltage loss in the security section and failure of backup power input.
2.Check the security section bus PT cabinet for no grounding or alarm records.
3.Verify that the security 1A section main power incoming switch A813 and backup power incoming switch A814 are in the open position; manually open them if not. Check that the diesel backup incoming switch A810 is automatically interlocked and closed.
4.Immediately inspect the parallel operation cabinet and on-site diesel generator separately and stand by:
Parallel Operation Cabinet: No alarms, DC power normal indicator lit, unit control mode SW1 in "Auto" position, power output mode SW2 in "OFF" position, system mode SW3 in "Auto" position, 801 in working position, A8101 and B8101 disconnect switches closed, control power switches F1~F10 in the cabinet are normally powered on. Contact electrical protection personnel if other faults occur.
Diesel Generator: 24V wall-mounted power charger output voltage >18V (normal, no alarm), battery normal (no acid leakage), diesel engine DC excitation switch in "ON" position, normal oil level, fuel tank level, and radiator water level, no alarm indicators in the upper left column of the front panel, emergency stop handle pulled out to reset, start mode in "AUTO" position. Contact electrical protection personnel if other faults occur.
5.If no abnormalities are found, press "Start Diesel Generator" on the centralized control panel immediately. Verify normal start-up and voltage build-up, and automatic closing of switch 801 to restore power to the security section.
6.If remote manual start fails, immediately instruct personnel at the parallel operation cabinet to set unit control mode SW1 to "Manual" (other settings unchanged), press "START" to start the unit. Verify normal voltage build-up on the voltmeter, then press "C.B CLOSE" to check normal closing of output switch 801. Manually close switches A810 and B810 to restore power to security sections 1A and 1B.
7.If manual start at the parallel operation cabinet fails, immediately instruct personnel at the diesel generator to rotate the front panel start mode selector switch clockwise to "Manual". Verify normal start-up, manually close output switch 801 in the parallel operation cabinet, and confirm automatic interlocking closure of A810 and B810 (manually close if not). Check normal voltage in security sections 1A and 1B.
8.Monitor the diesel generator’s operating status while supplying power to the security section. Ensure no alarms on the CRT and check the on-site front panel for alternating status displays and limit values.
Automatic Start Procedure
(1) Start-up Steps: Check that engine oil level is between the high and low marks → Open the water chamber cap and check for water → Set to "Auto" mode → Set to low speed (auto-accelerates) → Turn on the power switch → Press "Man" button → Press "Start" button → Gradually accelerate to generate power normally.
(2) Shutdown Steps: Press the "Stop" button directly → Turn off the power switch
after shutdown.
Precautions
1.In winter, due to low ambient temperatures, preheat at low speed for 2–4 minutes before starting.
2.In other seasons, start directly.
