The diesel generator set has high requirements for radiator due to the particularity of its operation. If the radiator of the diesel generator set is damaged, it will directly lead to the operation failure of the diesel generator set. In order to maintain the normal operation of the diesel generator set, the user should check and repair the radiator in time.

Inspection method.

1. Plug the radiator inlet and outlet, install a connector from the overflow pipe or drain plug, inject 0.15-0.3kgf/m2 compressed air, and then put the radiator into the pool. If there is a bubble, it is a leak.

2. Check with irrigation method. During inspection, block the water inlet and outlet of the radiator, fill the water inlet with water, and observe whether there is water leakage. In order to find small cracks, a certain pressure can be applied to the radiator or the radiator can be slightly vibrated, and then carefully observed, water will seep from the broken part.

Repair method.

The radiator is usually repaired by soldering. Before welding, wipe off the greasy dirt at the welding place, scrape out a new metal layer with a scraper, and then heat it properly. After the soldering iron is heated, soak it in zinc oxide solution, and then stick solder. After being glued, the weld shall be leveled, and the zinc oxide around the weld shall be cleaned with hot water to prevent corrosion.

1. Welding repair of upper and lower water chambers: when the leakage of upper and lower water chambers is not large, it can be directly repaired with soldering tin. If the leakage is large, the purple steel sheet shall be used for welding. During repair welding, one side of the steel sheet and the leaking part shall be coated with a layer of soldering tin, the steel sheet shall be placed at the leaking part, and then the soldering iron shall be used for external heating to melt the soldering tin, and the surrounding area shall be firmly welded.  

2. Repair welding of radiator water pipe: if the outer water pipe of radiator is cracked and the crack is not large, remove a little of the radiator fins near the water pipe with pointed nose pliers and directly repair with solder. If the break is large or the middle water pipe leaks, the methods of pipe clamping, pipe plugging, pipe connection and pipe replacement shall be adopted according to the specific situation. However, the number of tubes clamped and blocked shall not exceed 10% of the total number of tubes, so as not to affect the heat dissipation effect of the radiator.
