Press the AUTO key on the controller’s front panel; the indicator light next to the key will illuminate, indicating that the generator set is in automatic start mode.

Automatic Start Sequence of Diesel Generator Controller

Use PC testing software to configure one of the 9 programmable input ports as the remote start input. The factory default setting is "Remote start with load (as required)." When this input is active, the generator set will start, synchronize, parallelize, and automatically share the load among units on the busbar according to the set priority sequence.

1.When the remote start input is active, the system enters the "start delay" phase.

2.The LCD screen displays a countdown for "start delay."

3.After the start delay ends, the preheating relay is activated (if configured), and the LCD screen shows "start preheating delay XX s."

4.After the preheating delay, the fuel relay is activated for 1 second (or a start signal is sent via the engine ECU), followed by the activation of the start relay. If the generator set fails to start within the "start time," the fuel and start relays stop outputting, and the system enters the "start interval" to wait for the next start attempt.

Note: If the controller is configured for CANBUS communication, the engine ECU will receive the start signal via CANBUS.

5.If the generator set fails to start within the set number of attempts, the first line of the LCD display will invert, and a "start failure" alarm will appear on the LCD alarm screen.

6.If the start is successful in any attempt, the system enters the "safe run time" phase. During this period, alarms for low oil pressure, high water temperature, under-speed, and charging failure are inactive. After the safe run delay ends, the system enters "start idle delay."

Note: If the controller is configured for CANBUS communication, engine speed will be read directly from the ECU.

7.During the start idle delay, under-speed, under-frequency, and under-voltage alarms are inactive. After the start idle delay, the system enters "high-speed warm-up delay."

8.For single-unit operation: After the high-speed warm-up delay, if power generation is normal, the power generation status indicator lights up. When the generator voltage and frequency meet the load requirements, the generator closing relay is activated, the generator set is loaded, the power supply indicator lights up, and the unit enters normal operation. If voltage or frequency is abnormal, the controller will alarm and shut down the unit.

9.For parallel operation: After the high-speed warm-up delay:

a) If there is no voltage signal on the system busbar, a closing status flag is first sent to other units to be paralleled, and then the generator closing relay is activated to prevent simultaneous closing of other units.

b) If the system busbar has voltage or other units are already closed, the controller will adjust the GOV (governor) and AVR (automatic voltage regulator) to synchronize the unit with the busbar. When synchronization conditions are met, a closing signal is sent to parallel the unit with the busbar. Once paralleled, the controller will gradually increase the engine throttle to share the load evenly with other paralleled units.

Automatic Stop Sequence of Diesel Generator Controller

1.When the remote start input becomes inactive, the "stop delay" phase begins.

2.After the stop delay ends, the controller will gradually transfer the load to other units, send an opening signal, and start the stop cooling delay. During the stop cooling delay, if the remote start signal becomes active again, the controller will re-enter the parallel operation state. After the stop cooling delay, the system enters "stop idle delay."

3.When entering "stop idle delay," the idle relay is energized. If the controller is configured for CANBUS communication, the stop function will be implemented via CANBUS.

4.When entering "powered stop delay," the powered stop relay is energized, and the fuel relay output is disconnected.

5.When entering "generator set stop time," the system automatically determines if the unit has come to a complete stop.

6.After the unit stops, it enters standby mode. If the unit fails to stop, the controller will trigger an alarm.
