Characteristics of Supercharged Diesel Engines for Diesel Generators

Nov. 08, 2018

1. In some supercharger models, in order to further improve its low-temperature starting performance, an intake air preheating device is also provided on the intake pipe of the diesel engine, and should be used correctly when starting at a low temperature.

2. After the diesel engine is started, it must be accelerated before the oil pressure rises, otherwise it may cause the supercharger bearing to burn out; especially when the diesel engine replaces the lubricating oil, cleans the supercharger, filters or replaces the filter element and stops for more than one week. After starting, in the idle state, loosen the oil inlet connector on the supercharger, tighten the oil after it overflows, and then idle for a few minutes before loading.

3. The diesel engine should avoid idling for a long time, otherwise it will easily cause the oil in the supercharger to leak into the compressor and cause the exhaust pipe to spray oil.

4. After the new diesel engine or the supercharger is replaced, the inlet pipe joint on the supercharger must be removed, and 50~60ml of oil should be added to prevent the supercharger bearing from being burnt out due to lack of oil during start-up.

5. Before the diesel engine stops, it must be idling for 2~3min. Under non-special circumstances, it is not allowed to stop suddenly to prevent the supercharger from overheating and causing the supercharger bearing to die.

6. Frequently, after using the diesel engine to stop, monitor whether there is any rubbing sound between the turbocharger impeller and the casing. If there is a rubbing sound, immediately disassemble the supercharger and check whether the bearing clearance is normal.

7. The sealing of the inlet and exhaust pipes of the supercharged diesel engine must be maintained, otherwise the performance of the diesel engine will be affected. Always check whether the tightening nut or bolt is loose, whether the hose clamp is clamped, and if necessary, replace the gasket.

Precautions for the use of diesel generators for supercharged diesel engines

The turbocharged diesel engine of the diesel generator set has the characteristics of improving the power of the unit, improving the specific power, improving the fuel economy, reducing the exhaust emission and noise, and thus is well received by the users. So what are the precautions in the use process?

1. Among the 135 basic diesel engines, the supercharged diesel engine designed before 1989, due to the low compression ratio, the starting performance is not satisfactory. In order to improve the starting performance, the turbocharged diesel engine that has been designed and improved since 1989 has taken measures to increase the compression ratio. In some supercharged models, in order to further improve its low temperature starting performance, an intake air preheating device is also provided on the intake pipe of the diesel engine.

2. The diesel engine should avoid idling for a long time, otherwise it will easily cause the supercharger oil to leak into the compressor and cause the exhaust pipe to spray oil.

3. After the diesel engine is started, it must be accelerated before the oil pressure rises, otherwise it may cause the supercharger bearing to burn out; especially when the diesel engine replaces the lubricating oil, cleans the supercharger, filters or replaces the filter element and stops for more than one week. After starting, in the idling state, loosen the oil inlet connector on the supercharger, tighten the oil after it overflows, and then idle for a few minutes before loading.

4. After the new diesel engine or the supercharger is replaced, the inlet pipe joint on the supercharger must be removed and the oil of 50-60m should be filled to prevent the supercharger bearing from being burnt due to lack of oil during starting.

5. Before the generator set stops, it needs to idle for 2-3 minutes. Under non-special circumstances, it is not allowed to stop suddenly to prevent the supercharger bearing from being killed due to overheating of the supercharger.

6. The sealing of the inlet and exhaust pipes of the supercharged diesel engine must be maintained, otherwise the performance of the diesel engine will be affected. Always check the tightening nut or bolt for looseness and the hose clamp is clamped. Replace the gasket if necessary.

7. Frequently, after using the diesel engine to stop, monitor whether there is any rubbing sound between the turbocharger impeller and the casing. If there is a rubbing sound, immediately disassemble the supercharger and check whether the bearing clearance is normal.
