Start Success Rate Test for Cummins Diesel Generator

The purpose of the start success rate test for Cummins diesel generator is to expose all potential problems before the product is put into production, so that they can be solved. Therefore, the main purpose of formulating the test specification is to make the product expose problems faster and more obviously.

Before starting the diesel generator, it is necessary to check whether the cooling water or antifreeze in the diesel engine water tank is sufficient, and if it is insufficient, it should be filled up. Pull out the oil dipstick to check if the lubricating oil is insufficient, and if it is, add it to the specified "static full" scale line. Then carefully check whether there are hidden faults in relevant components. If faults are found, they must be eliminated in time before starting the machine.

Test Method for Start Success Rate of Cummins Diesel Generator

The test should be carried out under the ready-to-start state specified in the product technical conditions. For each start command, after a successful start, a rated load with 50% of 1.0 power should be suddenly applied for 5 minutes, and then the machine should be stopped. The test should be conducted 100 times. The start success rate should be greater than 99%; otherwise, this item is considered unqualified. There are 2 starting modes for the diesel generator set: manual start and automatic start.

Manual Start

1. After checking normally, press the manual mode, then press the confirm keyboard, and the unit will start normally.

2. If the diesel generator cannot start, restart after 30 seconds. If it fails to start for 3 consecutive times, the cause should be found out and the fault exclude before starting.

3. After successful start, check for abnormal noise and vibration, oil leakage, water leakage, air leakage, and abnormal display on the control panel. Within 10-15 seconds after starting, check whether the oil pressure reaches the normal range (60 - 70 psl). If there is any abnormal phenomenon, it should be handled. After normal, close the main air switch of the diesel generator to start supplying power.

Automatic Start

1. Reset all buttons on the control panel.

2. Press the automatic (AUTO) switch once, and the unit enters the standby state.

3. Close the main air switch of the diesel generator to the (ON) position.

4. When the "mains power" is cut off, the diesel generator will start automatically and supply power within 5 - 8 seconds.

5. If the diesel generator cannot start automatically, press the red emergency stop button on the control panel, find out the cause and exclude the fault before starting.
