Repair Method for Damaged Gear of Perkins Diesel Generator Set

During the operation of the Perkins diesel generator set, if there are some failures due to wear or other reasons after a long time of operation, Starlight will give you a simple advice on how to repair the damaged gear of Perkins diesel generating set.

1. Reversing method: for one-way wear of the gear tooth surface, if the structure allows, the gear can be reversed or turned 180 degrees to use its non-worn side. However, it is better to use it in pairs or replace the matched gears with new ones to ensure the normal meshing of gears.

2. Ring gear inlay method: the tower gear is made of several gears, and the damage degree of each gear is different. If the teeth of individual gears are worn, the ring gear can be replaced for repair. First, anneal the gear to be repaired, turn off all worn gear teeth, and then make a gear ring and press it on the part where the gear teeth are turned off. In order to prevent the looseness of the new gear ring, the joint between the gear ring and the gear can be spot welded along the circumference, or fixed by drilling and driving a stable nail.

3. Tooth inlay method: for gears with small load and low speed, after individual teeth are knocked out, the tooth inlay method can be used for local update. The repair party cleans the root of the bad gear tooth on the planer or the fitter makes a trapezoidal groove, presses the new tooth germ with the same shape as the groove with a certain degree of tightness, welds it firmly and processes it.

4. Overlay welding method, in case that the wear of individual or several gear teeth on the surface or the wear of both sides of the gear end exceeds the limit, etc., one or more layers of filler metal can be overlaid on the whole or part of the surface of the gear teeth according to the gear damage. Repair welding of gears can be divided into electric welding and gas welding. It is easy to repair gears by overlaying welding, and the repair quality is good.

5. Screw tooth making method: remove and clean the toothing gear, measure the thickness of the tooth root with a vernier, and flatten and clean the toothing part with a file knife. According to the thickness of the tooth root, select the screw with the corresponding diameter, and the length of the thread shall not be less than 1.5~2cm. Then use a bench drill to drill holes with the same diameter as the screw at the gear tooth drop position, and then tap. Screw the selected screw in the screw hole, then use a hacksaw to cut the screw that is higher than the top of the tooth, and then use a file cutter to process the same tooth shape as the original one.
