Sources of Noise from Diesel Generator Sets
1. Emanating from the engine shell. The general frequency is about 500 - 3KHz, and the noise value is different under different engine speeds. Generally, when the speed increases by 2 times, the noise value increases by about 9 - 12 decibels.
2. Overflowing from the air intake and outlet. The difference under load and no - load conditions is about 10 - 15 decibels. The noise value at a frequency of 2k - 4k is larger than the noise characteristic. Generally, 90% of the intake air volume is used for cooling and 10% is used for combustion.
3. From the engine exhaust port. The difference under load and no - load conditions is about 10 - 15 decibels. The main frequency noise is (speed/60)x(number of cylinders/2). In addition, generally, if two emission - type mufflers are required, one is a reaction - type muffler to reduce low - frequency noise, and the other is an acoustic - absorbing muffler to absorb high - frequency noise. The former can be placed inside the sound - proof cover, and the latter can be placed outside the sound - proof cover to save space.
4. From the cooling fan and other auxiliary equipment. The noise value of this part is not much compared with the aforementioned values, and generally can be ignored.
How to Reduce the Noise of Diesel Generator Sets
1. Reduce the noise at the sound source.
2. Control the propagation path of noise. It is generally difficult to achieve the method of reducing the noise at the sound source, so it can only be dealt with in its propagation path. The key to controlling the propagation path of noise is to use the natural attenuation of sound waves during propagation to reduce noise pollution. There are several specific measures:
(1) Sound absorption
(2) Sound insulation
(3) Change the propagation direction of noise.
