National VI emission standards are an extension of the previous National V standards, with significantly increased monitoring items and functional testing for OBD (On-Board Diagnostics) compared to the National V stage. Unlike before, National VI standards directly measure vehicle emissions under real-world driving conditions, similar to passenger cars, making emission testing more representative of actual vehicle usage. The engine emission control operating range is broader, even wider than European and American standards.

The four models ignited by Yuchai this time are YCK13, YCK08, YCS04, and YCY24. Their common features include integrating internationally advanced engine technologies of the same displacement, offering strong power, low fuel consumption, excellent emissions, low noise, light weight, small size, high reliability, and long service life, with power covering 100-560 horsepower.

1.New platform for better quality.

Among these engines, the YCK08 is an 8-liter engine. Yuchai previously had two quasi-heavy engines around the 8-liter range, YC6A and YC6L. The YCK08 is a newly developed model by Yuchai for the 8-liter class. Being newly developed, this engine incorporates advanced domestic and international design concepts to ensure its competitiveness.

In addition, during the National VI stage, Yuchai will replace the YC6A and YC6L engines with this product. By shortening the product line, the company will have more resources to ensure product quality, allowing these inherently advantageous products to excel further in future development.

2.Higher power per liter and greater horsepower.

Among the four engines, the YCK13 is a 13-liter product with an initial design power of 560 horsepower. The YCY24 is a 2.4-liter product with an initial minimum design power of 100 horsepower. In the original model range, the YC4FB is a nearly 5-liter product with a minimum power of 90 horsepower. In the National VI stage, Yuchai engines will have higher power per liter and greater horsepower.

3.Application of new materials for lighter weight and lower fuel consumption.

In the past, increased power per liter typically meant thicker engine blocks and higher net engine weight. However, in the National VI stage, as reducing fuel consumption is more challenging than in previous stages, Yuchai will use high-strength materials in the engine, making it lighter, smaller, and more compact, resulting in lower fuel consumption.

4.Lower maintenance costs.

In the design and manufacturing of the YCK13 engine, advanced modular design will be adopted to reduce the number of parts and improve part commonality. Coupled with the long-life "three filters" jointly developed by Yuchai and its subsidiaries, as well as other technical measures, users will experience significantly reduced maintenance costs.
