Key Precautions for Assembling Fasteners on Diesel Generators

A diesel generator set is a complex mechanical equipment composed of many components, such as cylinder head nuts, connecting rod bolts, main bearing bolts, injector lock nuts, etc. During the maintenance of diesel generator sets, it is common to see workers using wrenches to forcefully tighten fasteners or hitting them with hands. Incorrect installation methods can easily cause various faults in the unit. 1. Cylinder Head Nuts

When tightening cylinder head nuts, they should be tightened gradually to the specified torque in several steps. When disassembling the cylinder, they should also be removed step by step in the specified order. If the cylinder head nuts are tightened unevenly, it will cause warping deformation of the cylinder head surface. If the nuts are tightened too tightly, the bolts will stretch and deform. If the nuts are not tightened tightly enough, it will cause air, water and oil leakage in the cylinder, and burn out the cylinder gasket.

2. Rocker Arm Seat Nuts

For the rocker arm seat nuts of diesel engine components, regular inspections should be carried out in combination with maintenance during use.

3. Injector Lock Nuts

When installing the injector, its lock nut should be tightened to the specified torque. At the same time, tighten it repeatedly several times instead of tightening it all at once.

4. Delivery Valve Holder

When installing the delivery valve holder of the fuel injection pump, it should also be tightened according to the specified torque.

5. Connecting Rod Bolts

Connecting rod bolts need to be made of high-quality steel, and ordinary bolts cannot be used as substitutes. When tightening, the torque should be uniform. The two connecting rod bolts should be tightened gradually to the specified torque in several turns alternately, and finally locked with galvanized iron wire.

6. Main Bearing Bolts

The installation accuracy of the main bearing should be ensured without loosening. After tightening each bolt, check whether the crankshaft rotates normally. The hazards caused by excessive or insufficient tightening torque of the main bearing bolts are basically the same as those caused by excessive or insufficient tightening torque of the connecting rod bolts.

7. Injector Pressure Plate Nuts

When installing the injector assembly on the diesel engine cylinder head, in addition to paying attention to removing carbon deposits and other dirt in the mounting seat of the injector assembly, not reversing the pressure plate of the injector assembly, ensuring that the thickness of the steel gasket is appropriate and not omitting it, attention should also be paid to the tightening torque of the pressure plate nuts of the injector assembly.
