Installation Locations for Fire Emergency Lights in Diesel Generator Rooms

1.Enclosed stairwells, smoke-proof stairwells and their antechambers, fire elevators and their antechambers.

2.Power distribution rooms, fire control rooms, automatic generator rooms, fire pump rooms, smoke control and exhaust control rooms, battery rooms for fire-fighting power supply, main telephone rooms, and rooms where personnel need to stay to extinguish fires in case of a fire.

3.Exhibition halls and business halls with a floor area exceeding 1500㎡ per floor in auditoriums, studios with a building area exceeding 2000㎡, and crowded basements with a building area exceeding 300㎡.

4.Escape routes (safe exit passages) in public buildings and internal corridors with a length exceeding 20 meters.

 

Installation Standards for Fire Emergency Lights in Generator Rooms

1.In modern engineering design, fire emergency lights should preferably be powered by a dedicated feeder circuit per floor to facilitate daily maintenance and management.

2.To ensure the reliability of the power supply for fire emergency lights, if conditions permit, it should be supplied by the low-voltage emergency bus section of the substation. That is, when a diesel generator set is used as the emergency power source, the lights will continue to be powered as long as the generator is in operation.

3.Fire emergency lights are recommended to be installed at a low position, i.e., near or at ground level. In a fire, there is less smoke and more oxygen near the ground, and people usually escape by bending over or crawling. Localized high-illumination lighting at a low position is more effective than average illumination from a high installation.

4.Fire emergency lights must leave the factory in a discharged state. They must be charged for 20 hours before use to allow discharge.

5.Fire emergency lights should undergo regular performance checks. Every half a month or month, conduct a continuous switch test to check their circuit conversion and battery emergency functions, and perform discharge to extend the battery life.

6.Fire protection for power distribution lines of fire emergency lights must be ensured. When concealed, they should be laid in non-combustible structures with a protective layer thickness of not less than 30mm; Wear metal pipes when applying openly, and apply fireproof coating or other fireproof measures outside the steel pipes; The line adopts fire-resistant cables or fire-resistant cables and wires.
