To facilitate production management and usage, the national standard GB2819 has uniformly stipulated the model designation method for diesel generator sets. The model arrangement and symbol meanings are as follows:

1.The rated power output of the unit (kW) is represented by numbers.

2.Type of output current: G—AC power frequency; P—AC intermediate frequency; S—AC dual frequency; Z—DC.

3.Unit type: F—land use; FC—marine use; Q—vehicle-mounted power station; T—trailer-mounted.

4.Control characteristics: Absent for manual (ordinary type); Z—automatic; S—low noise; SZ—low noise automatic.

5.Design serial number, represented by numbers.

6.Variant code, represented by numbers.

Environmental characteristics: Absent for ordinary type; TH—tropical humid type.

Note: Some diesel generator set series models may differ from the above meanings, especially imported or joint-venture produced units, which are determined by the manufacturer.

Classification by Automation Function

In daily use, the automation functions of diesel generator sets vary in complexity depending on the user. They can be classified into basic type, self-starting type, and microcomputer-controlled automatic type:

1.Basic Diesel Generator Set: This is the most common type, consisting of a diesel engine, water tank, muffler, synchronous alternator, control box, coupling, and chassis. It can generally serve as the main or backup power source.

2.Self-starting Diesel Generator Set: This type adds a fully automatic control system to the basic unit. It features automatic switching functionality—when mains power suddenly fails, the unit can automatically start, switch power supplies, transmit electricity, and shut down. It also provides audio-visual alarms for low oil pressure, high oil temperature, or high cooling water temperature, and automatically emergency stops to protect against overspeed.

3.Microcomputer-controlled Automatic Diesel Generator Set: Comprising a high-performance diesel engine, three-phase brushless synchronous generator, automatic fuel supply device, automatic oil supply device, automatic cooling water supply device, and ATS automatic control panel with programmable PLC control. In addition to automatic start, switchover, operation, input, and shutdown functions, it is equipped with various fault alarms and automatic protection devices.

Classification by Application
