Diesel generator sets must be operated by designated personnel, who must read the operation manual and these regulations carefully before use. Any abnormalities identified during operation checks should be addressed immediately; unresolved issues require prompt contact with the manufacturer for after-sales support.
Operators should possess basic electrical knowledge and master the performance of both the generator and diesel engine. Unauthorized personnel are strictly prohibited from operating the generator, which must be monitored by a dedicated person during use.
Key Electrical Safety Guidelines
.In single-phase wiring, the left terminal is neutral (N) and the right is live (L).
.In three-phase five-wire systems, phases U, V, W, and neutral (N) are colored yellow, green, red, and light blue respectively; the protective earth (PE) uses a dual-color wire.
.Transformer operation: Phase currents must not exceed rated values, and unbalanced currents should not exceed 25% of the rated current. Regular maintenance is required after commissioning.
.Avoid mixing protective earthing and protective neutral grounding in systems powered by the same transformer.
.Voltage transformers (VT): Secondary windings typically have a rated voltage of 100V.
.VT secondary windings must never be short-circuited during operation, as this causes excessive current and potential damage. Fuses are installed on both primary and secondary sides for protection.
.One end of the VT secondary winding must be earthed to prevent high voltage from entering the secondary side if insulation between windings fails, ensuring personnel and equipment safety.
.Current transformers (CT): Secondary windings operate near short-circuit conditions, with a typical rated current of 5A.
.CT secondary windings must never be open-circuited during operation.
.One end of the CT secondary winding must be earthed to prevent high voltage from entering the secondary side if insulation between windings fails.
.CT connections must follow polarity markings; China uses the subtractive polarity labeling method.
.Ensure correct and secure CT wiring. No fuses or switches are allowed on the secondary side. When removing instruments or devices, short-circuit the secondary side first.
.Low-voltage switches include disconnectors, circuit breakers, and fuses rated below 1kV.
.Loads controlled by low-voltage distribution devices must be clearly separated by circuits. "One switch controlling multiple circuits" and circuit confusion are strictly prohibited.
.Interlocking devices between low-voltage distribution systems and standby generators must function reliably. Unauthorized parallel operation of standby generators with the public grid is prohibited.
.Insulating mats must be laid in maintenance entrance of low-voltage distribution devices; storage of items in these entrance is prohibited.
.Equipment connection sequence: Connect equipment first, then power supply.
.Equipment disconnection sequence: Disconnect power supply first, then equipment.
.Wiring sequence: Connect neutral wire first, then live wire.
.Wire removal sequence: Remove live wire first, then neutral wire.
Adhering to these guidelines ensures safe and efficient generator operation, minimizing risks and extending equipment lifespan.
