Check The Vacuum Degree of The Diesel Engine Intake Pipe

The detection of vacuum degree in the intake pipe of a diesel engine is usually carried out using a dedicated vacuum gauge for diesel engine detection with a range of 0-120kPa. The vacuum gauge is composed of a gauge head and a hose. One end of the hose is connected to the meter head, and the other end is connected to the joint of the intake pipe during measurement. Before testing, the diesel engine should be preheated to normal operating temperature.

1. When the diesel engine is idling and the vacuum gauge pointer is stable within the range of 57.42-70.93kPa, it indicates that the sealing of the intake system is normal; When the throttle is quickly opened and closed, the pointer can swing between 67.6 and 84.44 kPa, further indicating good technical condition.

2. When the diesel engine is idling, the pointer is below the normal value, mainly caused by air leakage at the piston ring, intake pipe, or fuel injector, and may also be related to delayed fuel injection or delayed gas distribution. If the throttle device is suddenly opened and closed in this situation, the pointer will fall back to zero and the rebound will not reach 84.44kPa.

3. When the diesel engine is idling, the pointer slowly swings between 33.78 and 74.3lkPa, and the oscillation intensifies as the speed increases, indicating insufficient valve spring elasticity, valve guide wear, or cylinder liner leakage.

4. When the diesel engine is idling, the pointer swings between 50.66~67.55kPa, indicating valve sticking or ignition system issues.

5. When the diesel engine is idling, the pointer slowly swings between 40.53 and 60.80 kPa, indicating poor adjustment of the fuel supply system.

6. When the diesel genset is idling, the pointer gradually drops to zero, indicating a blockage in the exhaust pipe system.

7. When the diesel generator is idling, the pointer swings rapidly, but when accelerating, the pointer becomes stable, indicating loose wear on the intake valve and valve guide.
