Working Principle of Diesel Generator

The diesel engine drives the generator and converts the energy of the diesel into electricity.


In the cylinder of the diesel engine, the clean air filtered by the air filter and the high-pressure atomized diesel fuel injected by the fuel injector are fully mixed. Under the upward extrusion of the piston, the volume shrinks and the temperature rises rapidly, reaching the ignition point of the diesel. The diesel fuel is ignited, the mixed gas burns violently, the volume expands rapidly, and the piston is pushed down, which is called 'work'. Each cylinder performs work in a certain order, and the thrust acting on the piston becomes the force that pushes the crankshaft to rotate through the connecting rod, thereby driving the crankshaft to rotate. By installing the brushless synchronous alternator coaxially with the crankshaft of the diesel engine, the rotor of the generator can be driven by the rotation of the diesel engine. Using the principle of 'electromagnetic induction', the generator will output an induced electromotive force, and a current can be generated through a closed load loop .

In the cylinder of the gasoline engine, the mixed gas burns violently, and the volume expands rapidly, pushing the piston down to work. The brushless synchronous alternator is installed coaxially with the crankshaft of the gasoline engine, and the rotor of the generator can be driven by the rotation of the gasoline engine. Establishment of main magnetic field: DC excitation current is passed through the excitation winding to establish an excitation magnetic field with alternating polarities, that is, the main magnetic field is established.


Current-carrying conductor: The three-phase symmetrical armature winding acts as a power winding and becomes the carrier of induced potential or induced current.


Cutting motion: The prime mover drives the rotor to rotate (mechanical energy is input to the motor), and the excitation magnetic field with alternating polarities rotates with the shaft and cuts the stator windings in sequence (equivalent to the conductors of the windings cutting the excitation magnetic field in reverse).


Generation of alternating potential: Due to the relative cutting motion between the armature winding and the main magnetic field, a three-phase symmetrical alternating potential whose magnitude and direction change periodically will be induced in the armature winding. AC power can be provided through the pinout.
