The Reason Why V Type Diesel Generator Adopts Parallel Connecting Rod

The connecting rods of the two cylinders corresponding to the left and right sides of the v-type diesel generator internal combustion engine are usually installed on the same crank pin. According to the different connection methods of the two connecting rods, they can be divided into the following three forms.

1. Parallel connecting rod


The corresponding connecting rods of the left and right cylinders are installed on the same crank pin, one front and one back. Because the connecting rod has the same structural form, it can be used universally, and the motion law of the piston connecting rod group of the cylinders on both sides of the v-type diesel generator is the same. The disadvantage is that the center lines of the cylinders on both sides should be staggered for a certain distance along the axial direction of the crankshaft, so the length of the crankshaft of the v-type diesel generator increases and the crankshaft stiffness decreases.


2. Main and auxiliary connecting rods


The main and auxiliary connecting rods of the v-type diesel generator are also called articulated connecting rods; The connecting rod of another row of cylinders is connected to the ear pin hole of the main connecting rod through a cylindrical pin, which is called the auxiliary connecting rod. The main and auxiliary connecting rods and their center lines of the left and right corresponding cylinders of the v-type diesel generator are in the same plane.


The advantage of this form is that the length of the crankshaft does not need to be lengthened, so that the stiffness of the v-type diesel generator crankshaft is strengthened. The disadvantage is that the connecting rod of v-type diesel generator cannot be interchanged. The auxiliary connecting rod produces additional bending moment on the main connecting rod, and the movement law of the piston connecting rod group of the left and right cylinders of the v-type diesel generator is different.


3. Fork type connecting rod


In the two connecting rods corresponding to the left and right cylinders of the v-type diesel generator, the big end of one connecting rod is made into a fork shape, and the big end of the other connecting rod is inserted in the open gear of the fork type connecting rod, which is called a fork type connecting rod.


The long axis of the I-section of the forked connecting rod body is located in a plane perpendicular to the swinging plane. The part whose wing plate extends to the big end becomes a fork shape, which can reduce the height of the slot on the fork shaped connecting rod body when the blade type connecting rod swings, thus improving the strength. The main and auxiliary connecting rods and the fork type connecting rod are mostly used on V-type internal combustion engines with larger cylinder diameters and more cylinders, while the general V-type diesel generator internal combustion engines use parallel connecting rods.
