Three Leaks in Diesel Generator Sets: Hazards and Solutions

1. Gasket Adding Method for Leakage Prevention

When oil leaks at the oil pipe joint gasket of a diesel engine, a layer of thin plastic pad with smooth surfaces on both sides can be added on both sides of the leak-proof gasket, and then tightened forcefully to prevent leakage.

2. Shellac Solution Method for Leakage Treatment

For leakage at the joints of diesel engine fuel tanks, water tanks, crankcases, etc., shellac can be soaked in alcohol, and then the shellac solution can be applied to the cleaned joints to stop the leakage. However, the cost of shellac is high, so it is generally only used in emergency situations.

3. Oil-based Method for Leakage Prevention

When the paper gaskets at the oil pan, cylinder head, gear chamber cover, crankcase rear cover and other parts of the diesel engine leak, as long as the paper gasket is intact and the joint surface is clean, a layer of butter can be applied on both sides of the paper gasket, and then the bolts can be tightened to prevent leakage. If a new paper gasket is used, it should be soaked in diesel for 10 minutes before installation, then taken out and wiped clean, and a layer of butter should be applied on the joint surface before installation.

4. Liquid Sealant Method for Leakage Treatment

When there are solid gasket defects (such as pits, grooves, cracks) on the diesel engine, resulting in interface leakage and destructive leakage, apply liquid sealant on the cleaned joint surface of the solid gasket. After curing, it can form a uniform, stable and continuously adhering peelable film gasket, which can prevent all leakage phenomena.

5. Anaerobic Adhesive Method for Leakage Treatment

When leakage occurs at the ventilation bolts, double-headed bolts, plug screws and other parts of the diesel engine, apply anaerobic adhesive on the cleaned bolts, threads or screw holes. It can quickly cure to form a film, fill the gaps of parts, and can withstand large pressure. At the same time, it has strong shock resistance and anti-loosening fastening function. For example, when used at the thread of the high-pressure oil pipe joint of the diesel engine, the leakage treatment effect is better.

6. Dimension Restoration Adhesive Method for Leakage Treatment

When leakage occurs at the shaft and shaft sleeve, bearing and bearing seat, valve and valve seat, self-tightening oil seal, felt cup and packing of the diesel engine, dimension restoration adhesive can be applied on the worn parts of the cleaned mating parts. After curing, a film layer with wear resistance, heat resistance and high mechanical strength is formed. Then, mechanical processing such as turning, boring, scraping and filing is carried out to restore the geometric shape and fitting accuracy of the parts, thereby solving the leakage problem.

7. Patching Adhesive Method for Leakage Treatment

When the body parts of the diesel engine, such as fuel tanks, water tanks, oil pipes, water pipes, etc., have sand holes and air holes causing leakage, apply patching adhesive on the cleaned damaged parts, and the leakage can be stopped.
