Solution to Abnormal Valve Sound of Generator Set

Generator set is a kind of small power generation equipment, which is widely used in factories, schools, hospitals and other industries. In view of this phenomenon, Starlight summarized the following reasons and solutions for the abnormal noise of the generator set valve.

The characteristics and causes of abnormal noise in the operation of the generator set mainly include the following aspects:

(1) Valve leakage

The valve leakage sound is outside the valve, which is more obvious at high load and low speed. The noise increases with the load. The main reason is that when reaming the valve seat, due to improper operation or excessive wear of the inner hole of the valve guide, the valve seat is skewed or the valve clearance is small, which causes the valve to burn and cause the valve to close loosely and leak sound.

Treatment: Remove the cylinder head, grind the valve, check the spring force of the valve, and readjust the valve clearance.

(2) Valve knocking

When the engine is running at idle speed, there is a continuous knocking sound between the end of the valve stem and its driving part, which increases with the increase of the speed. The sound does not change when the engine temperature changes or when the engine is cut off. Main reasons: ① The adjusted valve clearance has changed (the locking is not firm, the valve stem and the driving part are worn), the valve is not adjusted properly, ② the valve adjusting screw is worn, the locknut is loose, the valve clearance is too large or inconsistent, ③ the valve spring seat is worn and grooved, and the valve stem and guide tube are too worn.

Treatment method: readjust the valve clearance. If the locknut on the adjusting screw is loose, lock it firmly and replace the seriously worn parts.

The surface of the valve seat ring is rough, the machining accuracy is unqualified, the interference of the seat ring is improperly selected, resulting in looseness, improper material selection, excessive deformation after heat, or the valve seat inlay process is unqualified.

Treatment method: Refit the valve seat according to the assembly process requirements. The upper end face shall be flush with the body plane, and the higher part shall be leveled.
