(3) Diesel Engine Starting Device

Common starting methods for diesel engines include hand - cranking start, electric - motor start, and compressed - air start. Usually, diesel generator sets are equipped with starting devices, which are no more than the above - mentioned methods. Since a diesel engine cannot start on its own, it must rely on external force to start running and burn fuel until it reaches a self - running state.

 

(4) Diesel Engine Fuel Supply and Speed - Governing System

The diesel engine fuel supply and speed - governing system consists of the diesel tank, fuel transfer pump, diesel filter, fuel injection pump (high - pressure pump), fuel injector, and governor.

Its function is to inject a certain amount of diesel into the combustion chamber at a certain time and pressure to mix with air for combustion and power generation.

 

(5) Diesel Engine Cooling System

The function of the cooling system is to transfer the heat from the heated parts of the diesel engine to keep the diesel engine working at the most suitable temperature, so as to achieve good economy, power, and durability. The cooling system is divided into water - cooling and air - cooling types.

Most diesel engines use a water - cooling system, which uses water as the cooling medium. A small number of diesel engines use an air - cooling system. The air - cooling method, also known as the air - cooling mode, uses air as the cooling medium to transfer the heat from the heated parts of the diesel engine. This cooling method consists of a fan and an air guide cover. To increase the heat - dissipation area, heat - dissipation fins are usually cast on the cylinder head and cylinder block.

 

(6) Diesel Engine Lubrication System

The diesel engine lubrication system is not as well - known as other systems. However, its function is very important. The lubrication system delivers lubricating oil to the friction surfaces of various moving parts of the diesel engine, which can reduce wear, cool parts to lower the temperature, purify the working space, seal, and prevent rust. Reducing friction resistance and wear is fundamental. In addition, it can also carry away the heat generated by friction to keep the temperature of the unit stable and ensure good operation, thus guaranteeing the normal operation of the diesel engine. It mainly consists of the oil pump, oil filter, oil radiator, various valves, and lubricating oil passages.
