Functions of Neutral Grounding Resistor Cabinet
The neutral grounding resistor cabinet for generators plays an indispensable role. When a single-phase ground fault occurs in the circuit, it limits arc grounding overvoltage, reduces core burning damage, and minimizes mechanical stress on the generator and its circuits. Proper connection is crucial to avoid affecting other components’ normal operation, requiring a thorough understanding of correct wiring methods.
Pre-Installation Inspection
For users unfamiliar with grounding resistor cabinets, on-site wiring can be challenging. Before installation, perform the following checks:
1.Ensure screws are not loose or missing due to transportation.
2.Verify internal wiring is intact.
3.Confirm all accessories are complete and undamaged.
Wiring Procedure
1.Pass the generator’s neutral cable through the cabinet’s inlet hole into the cabinet and connect it to the transformer’s input terminal. The output terminal should be grounded on-site.
2.For the transformer’s secondary side:
If relay protection is required, install a current relay to monitor ground current. Set a threshold; when exceeded, the relay outputs control or alarm signals.
Optionally, install the AZ-DZK intelligent monitoring device on the cabinet to track ground current, grounding frequency, internal temperature/humidity, and resistor chip temperature. Fault data is transmitted to the control console in real-time via a 485 communication interface.
Fault Detection with Multimeter
Use a multimeter set to the resistance range. Connect the test leads to the "F" terminal and the "-" terminal respectively.
For JF-350W28V silicon rectifier generators, the normal resistance range is 60–100Ω. If resistance exceeds 1000Ω: Indicates poor contact between the carbon brush and slip ring or an open circuit. Normally, the contact area between the carbon brush and slip ring should exceed 85%, with sufficient spring pressure. If resistance is too low: May indicate a short circuit in the excitation coil or a ground fault at the "F" terminal. First, confirm the "F" terminal is not grounded, then check if the excitation coil is damaged.
