Generator Control Box

The control box is generally a closed metal structure made of high-quality steel plates through stamping and welding. It can be used for the control, measurement, protection, power transmission and distribution of mobile or small-capacity generators. Usually, the control box is installed on the back of the generator via shock absorbers, forming an integrated unit with the generator.

The panel of the generator set control box is equipped with an ammeter, voltage changeover switch, output indicator, voltmeter, frequency meter, power meter, automatic air switch, AC and DC sockets, etc., which can monitor the operating status of the generator set. A field rheostat is also installed on the side of the control box for adjusting the voltage or reactive power of the generator set. The number of instruments set on the control box panel varies depending on the capacity of the generator set and user requirements. Different excitation methods of generator sets result in different devices used for adjusting the generator voltage. In addition to the above-mentioned field rheostat, some use reactors, and those with high voltage regulation rate use automatic excitation regulators.

Some control boxes are equipped with a differential adjustment device, light synchronization indicator, oil pressure gauge, battery charging ammeter, electric switch, start button, synchronization voltmeter, water temperature gauge, oil temperature gauge, etc., to meet the parallel operation of small three-phase generator sets and monitor the operating conditions of the diesel engine.
