The diesel engine oil dipstick generally has two types of marks: one is the running surface graduation mark and the other is the static surface graduation mark. So when is the appropriate time to add lubricating oil? Can it be added randomly? Actually, there are specific requirements: generally, lubricating oil should be added when the diesel generator is in a static state, and it needs to be stopped for 15 minutes before adding. The amount to add can be determined using the diesel engine oil dipstick. The specific operation methods can refer to the following steps:
Running Surface Marks of the Dipstick
1.The upper mark on the running surface of the lubricating oil dipstick is the maximum oil level mark for the diesel engine during operation. If the oil level exceeds this mark during operation, it means there is too much lubricating oil or other liquids have entered the lubricating oil. In this case, the diesel engine should be stopped, the excess lubricating oil should be drained, or the fault should be exclude before continuing to run the diesel engine.
Because adding too much lubricating oil will increase the rotational resistance of the crankshaft, reduce the output power of the engine. Moreover, the excess oil will enter the combustion chamber and participate in combustion, causing the vehicle to burn oil, emit blue smoke, and increase fuel consumption. The residues after oil combustion will accumulate on the combustion chamber wall, reducing the combustion chamber space, thereby lowering the engine's compression ratio. At the same time, it will also accelerate the wear of the cylinder and piston, thus reducing the service life of the vehicle. Therefore, when using diesel generator sets, everyone should pay attention to observing the diesel engine oil dipstick marks.
2.The lower mark on the running surface of the dipstick is the minimum oil level mark for the diesel engine during operation. If the oil level is lower than this mark during operation, it means the lubricating oil is insufficient and should be added to the diesel engine. However, when adding lubricating oil, it should not be added too much and should be kept slightly below the mark on the oil dipstick.
Static Surface Marks of the Dipstick
A.The upper mark on the static surface of the dipstick is the maximum oil level mark for the diesel engine when it is stationary. If the oil level exceeds this mark when the diesel engine is stationary, it means there is too much lubricating oil or other liquids have entered the lubricating oil. The diesel engine should be stopped, and the excess lubricating oil should be drained or the fault should be exclude.
B. The lower mark on the static surface of the dipstick is the minimum oil level mark for the diesel engine when it is stationary. If the oil level is lower than this mark when the diesel engine is stationary, it means the lubricating oil is insufficient and should be added to the diesel engine oil pan.
