Diesel generator sets produce large amounts of hot gas and combustion exhaust during operation. These exhaust gases must undergo specialized treatment before being discharged into the air through dedicated exhaust shafts. Relevant data shows that for every kilowatt-hour of electricity generated by diesel generator sets, approximately 3.7 grams of sulfur dioxide, 1.5 grams of nitrogen monoxide, and 860 grams of carbon dioxide are produced, along with carbon deposits from incomplete combustion. Without treatment, these emissions would pollute the environment, fail to meet environmental protection requirements, harm surrounding environments, severely damage human health, and reduce work efficiency. Therefore, exhaust treatment devices should be installed in the machine room to ensure the generator operates normally while reducing dust emissions by over 95% to meet national exhaust standards.
Diesel generator set exhaust system process flow: Unit exhaust → Shockproof flexible connection → Muffler treatment → Water spray purification treatment → Discharge to roof through exhaust shaft.
The diesel engine exhaust back pressure must not exceed the rated allowable back pressure, as exceeding this would seriously affect unit power output, cause higher temperature rise, frequent failures, and even shorten the service life of diesel generator sets. Therefore, during exhaust treatment, the total resistance of the exhaust pipeline must be calculated and verified to ensure the back pressure at the diesel engine exhaust interface does not exceed the manufacturer's design requirements. If it does, an induced draft fan should be added to the exhaust system to overcome part of the pipeline and equipment resistance. When the resistance of the exhaust treatment device is overcome by the induced draft fan, the exhaust system back pressure should not exceed the allowable back pressure.
Diesel generator set exhaust emission technical parameters:
Based on relevant parameters of diesel generator sets and design requirements from the construction unit, the exhaust emission technical parameters are as follows:
A. Treated flue gas volume: Q = 4500 m³/h
B. Flue gas temperature: T = below 800°C
C. Dust removal efficiency: above 95%
D. Desulfurization efficiency: above 60%
E. Flue gas blackness: Ringelmann 1 level
F. Emission standard: GB16297 - 1996 "Integrated Emission Standard for Air Pollutants" with dust concentration ≤ 120mg/m³ and SO₂ ≤ 550mg/m³.
