Design Considerations for 800kW Diesel Generator Room Oil Storage Room

Diesel generator sets are widely used and favored in commercial, industrial, agricultural and other fields. However, as large and complex mechanical equipment, generators require professional technical personnel for design and installation. 1.The total oil storage capacity of the oil storage room is 3-8 hours of fuel consumption, and the total oil storage capacity does not exceed 1m³. The capacity of a single diesel generator set can be calculated as follows: if calculated based on an oil storage time of 3 hours, the capacity of imported units is 990-1315kW, and the capacity of domestic units is 903-1204kW; if calculated based on an oil storage time of 8 hours, the capacity is approximately 450kW. That is, when the unit capacity is between 450kW and 1200kW, a 1m³ daily fuel tank volume can be used for 3-8 hours. For a single diesel generator set with a capacity exceeding 1200kW, if the indoor oil storage capacity cannot meet the requirements, an outdoor oil tank and a reserved oil supply port need to be set up.

2.The oil storage room and the generator room are separated by a fire partition wall with a fire resistance rating of not less than 3 hours. When a door is opened on the partition wall, a self-closing class-A fireproof door fire door should be installed.

3.The average illuminance of the oil storage room floor is not less than 100lx, and explosion-proof lamps are used, and the lamp switches are installed outside the oil storage room.

4.Explosion-proof fire detectors should be used in the oil storage room.

5.A brick-built oil collection pit is set at the corner of the oil storage room, with dimensions: length x width x depth: 300x300x200mm. The oil tank's sewage pipe and overflow pipe are connected to the oil collection pit to prevent oil from the oil tank from spilling during refueling, maintenance and cleaning.

6.To prevent the oil in the oil room from spreading to the generator room on a large scale, the oil storage room should be provided with a threshold. The height is calculated as: H=1.15/S (rounded up); where S is the area of the oil storage room. Below the H height of the oil storage room, the wall roots and the ground should be take measures to prevent oil and water leakage.

7.The oil tank is provided with a vent pipe leading to the outside, and a flame arrester is installed on the vent pipe.

8.The generator room is equipped with an automatic sprinkler system, and the oil storage room is an auxiliary room of the generator room. Based on this, designers believe that the oil storage room should also adopt a water sprinkler system. However, the author believes that the oil storage room mainly stores oil products, and according to oil-type substances, water fire extinguishing systems should not be used. Instead, fire extinguishing systems such as supersonic dry powder fire extinguishing systems can be used.
