Cummins diesel generator automatic air circuit breaker is a commonly used low-voltage protective apparatus, which can realize short circuit, overload and other functions. Automatic air circuit breakers are usually equipped with under voltage, overload and short circuit relay protection devices. There are two over-current releases and one voltage loss release for protection, with functional action principle.
(1) Long voltage protection principle
When the output voltage of Cummins diesel generator supplies power to the load normally, the magnetic iron coil for voltage loss tripping is connected to the line voltage at the power supply side through the normally closed contact of button TA and the normally open auxiliary contact of automatic switch (closed after closing). When the electromagnetic iron coil is energized, the electromagnetic attraction generated is greater than the spring tension, the impact rod is sucked down, and the automatic switch is in the closing state.
When the voltage loss release is used as the undervoltage protection device of Cummins diesel generator, the setting value of its starting voltage is set to be lower than 70% of the rated voltage of the generator, which acts instantaneously. Therefore, when the output voltage of Cummins diesel generator drops to the undervoltage protection setting value, the attraction of the electromagnet is less than the spring tension, and the impact rod is lifted to hit the hook, making it separate from the hook rod. The automatic switch automatically trips under the action of the breaking spring. When remote control is required, press the button to trip.
(2) Overcurrent protection principle
The overcurrent trip protection device is composed of two overcurrent trip electromagnets. When the current of Cummins diesel generator is normal, the attraction of the over-current release electromagnet is less than the spring tension, the hook is firmly hooked with the hook rod, and the automatic switch is in the closing state. When the overload current output by the generator is greater than the setting value of the overload protection starting current, the attraction force generated by the electromagnet coil is greater than the spring tension, and the armature is attracted, the impact rod is lifted and hits the hook, making it disengage from the hook rod, and automatically trips.
For automatic air circuit breaker with time delay mechanism, the starting current of overload long time delay protection can be set within the range of (1.55~2) times the rated current of the release, and the action time limit can be set within the range of (4~15) s. The action current of the short circuit short time delay protection can be set within the range of (3~4.5) times the rated current of the release, and the action time limit can be set within 0.2, 0.4, 0.6 s.
To sum up, we can learn that when the wire is short circuited and the current is too large, the dynamic and static state of the automatic air circuit breaker will be separated due to magnetic force, which will automatically disconnect its line from the power supply, thus protecting the line and preventing accidents, which is of great safety.
