Cummins diesel engines offer advantages such as high power output and excellent economic performance, with their working process going through four strokes: intake, compression, power, and exhaust. However, since diesel generators use diesel fuel, which has high viscosity, is not easy to evaporate, and has a lower auto-ignition temperature than gasoline, the air enters the cylinder during the operation of a diesel engine. When the air in the cylinder is compressed to the end, the temperature can reach 500-700°C, and the pressure can reach 40-50 atmospheres.
The lubrication and cooling systems of Cummins diesel engines are highly integrated, effectively shortening the waterway path by 30% to enhance cooling performance. The low-pressure reduction design can reduce kinetic energy consumption, with the power consumed by the water pump operation being equivalent to that of a 3-liter displacement engine, and energy consumption also reduced by more than 50%. The unique integrated design of the wind deflector and water tank, combined with the application of electromagnetic silicone oil fan technology, ensures the cooling effect to the maximum extent.
When the piston of a Cummins diesel engine is near the top dead center, the high-pressure pump on the engine injects diesel into the cylinder at high pressure. The diesel forms fine oil particles, which mix with the high-pressure and high-temperature air. The diesel mixture self-ignites, expands violently, and generates explosive force, pushing the piston downward to do work. At this time, the temperature can reach 1900-2000°C, and the pressure can reach 60-100 atmospheres, producing high power, which is widely used in the field of large diesel vehicles.
At the end of the compression stroke of the generator, the diesel oil is pressurized to over 10MPa by the fuel injection pump, and the injector can mix with the high-temperature air in a short time to form a combustible mixture. Due to the high compression ratio of diesel engines, the air pressure in the cylinder can reach 3.5-4.5MPa, and the temperature can be as high as 750-1000K, which can exceed the auto-ignition temperature of diesel. Therefore, after the diesel is injected into the cylinder, it can ignite and burn by itself in a very short time, and the pressure and temperature in the cylinder can rise rapidly. Driven by high-pressure gas, the piston moves downward and drives the crankshaft to rotate to do work, reducing exhaust gas emissions into the atmosphere.
Ordinary engines are driven by a camshaft, and diesel is delivered to each cylinder's combustion chamber by means of a high-pressure oil pump. This fuel supply method results in unstable rotational speed and makes it difficult to achieve low fuel consumption. However, the common rail injection system of the electronically controlled diesel engine adopted by the current Cummins diesel engine can better solve this problem.
