Assembly Requirements of Diesel Generator Connecting Rod Set

The connecting rod set of a diesel generator serves to connect the piston and the crankshaft, transmit the gas pressure borne by the piston to the crankshaft, and cooperate with the connecting rod to convert the linear reciprocating motion of the piston into the rotational motion of the crankshaft.

Since the diesel generator mainly bears the gas pressure at the top of the piston and the inertia force generated by the reciprocating motion of the piston assembly and connecting rod during operation, the material for manufacturing the connecting rod must have sufficient strength and rigidity, and the weight should be as light as possible.

First, one side of the connecting rod body has a factory mark, or there are characters and convex points in the rod body groove. When repairing and assembling the diesel generator set, the side of the connecting rod body with the factory standard should face the arrow on the piston. When the connecting rod is installed into the cylinder together with the piston, these marked surfaces should face the front end of the engine.

Second, matching marks are made on the same side of the connecting rod body and part of the connecting rod cap. Since the connecting rod cap and the connecting rod body are processed in pairs, they must be assembled according to the matching marks.

Third, in the case of a multi-cylinder diesel generator, the connecting rods are usually marked with cylinder numbers on the large cylinder head. During disassembly and assembly, the principle of one-to-one disassembly and assembly according to the numbers should be followed, and no misalignment is allowed.

Fourth, for multi-cylinder diesel generators, the connecting rods have mass grouping marks, and the mass of the connecting rods is indicated by numbers, generally on one side of the big end of the connecting rod. For example, some brands of diesel generators require that the mass difference between connecting rods shall not exceed 24g, and connecting rods with the same mass grouping should be selected during assembly.
