Recently, Dingbo Power successfully secured and delivered a backup power solution project for a data center in the United Arab Emirates, providing two units of 400kW silent diesel generator sets. Designed to meet the stringent requirements of data centers for power reliability, continuity, and intelligent management, this project adopts an advanced automatic alternation control system to ensure uninterrupted power supply for critical loads.
The project is equipped with Shanghai Diesel 6ETAA12.8-G31 engines, Dingbo high-performance alternators, SmartGen HGM9420 generator controllers, and Schneider circuit breakers. The complete power system integrates high reliability, intelligent control, and automated operation capabilities, providing stable and efficient standby power protection for the customer's data center infrastructure.

According to the end user's requirements, the two generator sets operate under an automatic rotation mode. Under normal conditions, the first generator starts automatically and supplies power to the 300kW data center load. After operating for four hours (the running time can also be adjusted according to the user's requirements through the control system), the second generator automatically starts, and the ATS (Automatic Transfer Switch) transfers the load smoothly from the first generator to the second generator. The first unit then stops and enters standby mode. This cycle continues automatically, allowing both generator sets to operate alternately and evenly, reducing mechanical wear caused by long-term operation of a single unit and extending the overall service life of the power system.
The system is also equipped with an automatic fault backup function. If one generator set fails or cannot operate normally, the control system will immediately start the standby generator and activate the ATS to complete automatic load transfer, ensuring continuous operation of critical data center equipment and minimizing the risk of power interruption.
As the core intelligent control device of the system, the SmartGen HGM9420 controller provides comprehensive monitoring and management capabilities. It supports automatic generator start/stop control, real-time operating status monitoring, alarm and protection functions, parameter configuration, and communication capabilities. The controller continuously monitors key operating parameters, including engine speed, voltage, current, frequency, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. Through seamless integration with the ATS system, it enables automatic generator changeover, standby start-up, and intelligent operation management, significantly improving system reliability and automation levels.

To meet the demanding environmental conditions in the UAE, the generator sets are equipped with Dingbo's specially designed silent canopy enclosure. The enclosure is manufactured using 2mm thick galvanized steel sheets, providing excellent corrosion resistance, durability, and weather protection. Before powder coating, the enclosure undergoes strict surface treatment processes, including shot blasting, degreasing, rust removal, grinding, and surface finishing, ensuring strong coating adhesion.
The coating process strictly follows professional industrial standards, including work piece preheating, powder spraying, powder curing, and secondary powder coating. The total dry film thickness (DFT) is controlled between 80-100 microns, effectively preventing peeling, corrosion, and surface damage during long-term operation. This high-quality enclosure design ensures reliable performance even under the UAE’s high-temperature and harsh environmental conditions while maintaining low-noise operation suitable for data center applications.
